José Manuel Ortega

José Manuel is a Principal of Agrega. His extensive knowledge of the financial services industry was gained during his tenure at McKinsey & Company and in executive positions at Banco de Venezuela/Grupo Santander. Before joining Agrega, he advised leading institutions in the Andean and Caribbean regions in a variety of themes -including strategy, operational efficiency, risk management and new business development. José Manuel also has direct line experience from managing retail segments and consumer credit products.

José Manuel’s primary role in Agrega focuses on advising in the management of financial services companies for its clients, where he often takes board-level positions, as well as supporting other firm efforts throughout other industries.

José Manuel holds an MBA (with Distinction) from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University (Ithaca, New York), and a Production Engineering degree from Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas, Venezuela)


Luis is a Principal of Agrega since 2010, his professional focus lies on advising leading organizations (businesses and family offices) on how to maximize their performance and sustainability. Luis has long experience in business development, governance redesign, corporate finance (M&A), and operational transformation.

Prior to joining Agrega, Luis spent 10 years at McKinsey and Company where, as Junior Principal, he led the Risk Management practice for Latin America. During this time, Luis worked on more than 10 countries with leading local and global organization on multiple industries, with a special focus on Financial Institutions.

Luis is based on Panama and holds a MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, California; and a Production Engineering degree form Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela.


 Jose Miguel Cuervo

José Miguel joined Agrega in 2009, his focus is performing advisory and valuations on venture capital and private equity deals, as well as strategic involvement with portfolio companies.

Before joining Agrega, José held business development roles at the Independent Financial Centre of the Americas (IFCA), and was a senior economist at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.

José has an MBA with a Specialization in Finance from the NYU Stern School of Business.
